Lumberjack 100% Oak smoking pellets in a single 9.07 kg bag – an easy way to try real oak in your pellet grill, or to top up between bigger orders. Oak is the workhorse of smoking woods: it runs hot, holds temperature well and gives a gentle, clean smoke that suits almost anything you put on the grill.
Each bag is made in the USA from whole northern Wisconsin oak trees, chipped green with the bark still on. There's nothing else in the bag – no filler woods, flavouring oils, sprays or binders – so the flavour you get is the oak itself.
If you already know you'll burn through oak, the 2-bag pack and 4-bag bulk pack bring the price per bag down.
Where Lumberjack Oak Pellets Get Their Flavour
A tree's flavour is concentrated in its bark and the cambium layer directly beneath it. Pellets made from leftover sawdust at furniture and timber mills miss most of that, so some brands add oils to make up the difference. Lumberjack processes whole trees in its own mill, which keeps the bark and cambium in every pellet.
Lumberjack also presses its pellets thinner than many brands. The extra surface area helps them light faster, get the grill to temperature sooner and give off more smoke per kilo.

Best Uses for Oak Pellets
Oak's heat and mild smoke make it a safe pick when you're not sure which wood to use.
- Beef: burgers, steaks, beef ribs and brisket, with smooth smoke that doesn't leave a harsh aftertaste on a long cook.
- Pizza and baking: strong heat with only a light wood-fired note.
- Seafood and duck: smoke you can taste without it taking over.
- Venison and other game.
- Cheese: cold-smoked with a ProFlame Cold Smoke Generator.
Oak is the backbone of several Lumberjack blends, so it also works as a mixing base. Add some Lumberjack 100% Hickory to the hopper for a bolder smoke.
How Long One Bag Lasts
Lumberjack puts the burn rate at about 0.45 kg an hour on a low or smoke setting and up to about 1.4 kg an hour on high. Grill model, wind and cold weather all move those numbers, so use them as a rough guide.
- Low and slow: around 20 hours from one bag.
- High heat: around 6–7 hours from one bag.
Fits and Compatibility
- Suits every brand of pellet grill and pellet smoker, including the Green Mountain Grills Ledge Prime 2.0.
- Use it in a smoker tube to add smoke on a gas, kettle or charcoal BBQ – try our 300 mm stainless steel smoker pipe.
- Suits cold smoke generators that run on pellets.
- A few grill brands recommend only their own pellets. If your grill's warranty depends on it, check the terms first.

Storage and Care
Moisture is what wrecks pellets. Damp pellets swell and crumble back into sawdust, which can jam the auger and make the fire hard to control.
- Keep the bag somewhere dry and off the floor.
- After opening, pour the pellets into a lidded bin or bucket, or roll the bag down tightly and clip it.
- When Sydney gets humid, don't leave pellets sitting in the hopper between cooks.
- Keep pellets away from the BBQ, heaters and open flame.

FAQs
Is oak a good first wood for a new pellet grill?
Yes. Lumberjack suggests Oak or its Hickory Blend for first-time smokers, because oak gives a balanced smoke that suits most meats and vegetables while you work out what you like.
How do I know if my pellets have gone bad?
Break one in half. Fresh pellets snap cleanly with very little dust. If they're swollen, soft or there's a lot of sawdust in the bag, they've absorbed moisture and shouldn't go into a pellet grill.
Can I grow mushrooms with these pellets?
Yes. Being pure oak with no oils or chemicals, they're a common fruiting substrate for oyster, shiitake, lion's mane and reishi mushrooms.

🤔Who is Sydney BBQs❓
Meet Erik & Suzie, the dynamic duo behind Sydney BBQs & Rotisseries!

Our journey began in 2019, amidst the whirlwind of early parenthood. We decided to embark on a little side venture, leveraging our shared passion of BBQ. Having grown up with family BBQs, almost on a weekly basis, charcoal and sizzling grills felt like old friends to us.Our humble beginnings saw us selling charcoal from the confines of our garage. To our surprise, the demand was huge, with pallet loads flying off the shelves faster than we could stock them. It was clear we had stumbled upon something special. Fast forward five years, and our little side gig has blossomed into a comprehensive online emporium. From charcoal to rubs, grills to rotisseries, and an array of accessories including spit baskets, gyro discs, skewers, gloves, smoker tubes, and beyond, we've got all your BBQ needs covered. But it doesn't stop there. With loyal customers all over Australia, we're thrilled to announce the next chapter in our story: The grand opening of our very own shopfront. It's been an incredible journey, and we couldn't have done it without the unwavering support of our BBQ community. Here's to many more years of sizzling success!
We’ve built Sydney BBQs & Rotisseries with passion, and our customers have been a huge part of that journey. See what they say about us!
