Lumberjack 100% Oak smoking pellets in a bulk pack of four 9.07 kg bags – about 36 kg of pure oak for anyone who fires up a pellet grill every week. Oak is the all-rounder of smoking woods: it burns hot, holds a steady temperature and gives a smooth, mild smoke that sits behind the food rather than over it.
Lumberjack makes these in the USA from whole northern Wisconsin oak trees, chipped green with the bark on, instead of leftover mill sawdust. Nothing else goes in: no filler woods, no flavouring oils, no sprays and no binders.
The 4-bag pack is the cheapest way to buy Lumberjack Oak by the bag at Sydney BBQs, and it means you're not caught short halfway through an overnight cook.
Why Lumberjack Oak Pellets Smoke Like Real Oak
Most of a tree's flavour sits in the bark and the cambium layer just under it. Pellets pressed from sawmill or furniture-factory sawdust carry very little of that, which is why some brands lean on flavouring oils. Lumberjack's mill is built to process whole trees, so the bark and cambium go into the pellet and the oak flavour comes from the wood itself.
The pellets are also made in a smaller diameter than many brands. More surface area means they catch quickly, bring the grill up to temperature faster and put out more smoke for the same weight of fuel.

What Oak Pellets Are Best For
Because oak runs hot, it's the wood to reach for when you want the grill working hard, and its mild smoke won't overpower lighter foods.
- Beef: burgers, steaks, beef ribs and brisket, with smooth smoke and no harsh aftertaste on long cooks.
- Pizza, bread and baking: plenty of heat with just a hint of wood-fired flavour.
- Seafood and duck: enough smoke to notice without masking the meat.
- Venison and other game.
- Cheese: cold-smoked in a ProFlame Cold Smoke Generator.
Oak is also the base wood in several Lumberjack blends – the Apple Blend, for example, is 60% oak – so a straight oak bag makes a clean base if you like mixing your own. Run it with a handful of Lumberjack 100% Hickory or Lumberjack 100% Cherry when you want more smoke character.
How Long a 36 kg Pack Lasts
Lumberjack estimates a burn rate of roughly 0.45 kg an hour on a low or smoke setting, rising to about 1.4 kg an hour on high. Your grill, the weather and how often the lid comes open all change that, so treat these figures as a guide.
- Low and slow: roughly 20 hours per bag, about 80 hours from the full pack.
- High heat: roughly 6–7 hours per bag, about 27 hours from the full pack.
Fits and Compatibility
- Works in any brand of pellet grill or pellet smoker, including the Green Mountain Grills Ledge Prime 2.0.
- Works in a smoker tube on a gas, kettle or charcoal BBQ, such as our 300 mm stainless steel smoker pipe.
- Works in cold smoke generators that take pellets.
- Some grill makers recommend running only their own branded pellets. If that matters for your warranty, check your grill's warranty terms first.

Storing a Bulk Pack
Four bags is a lot of fuel to keep in good condition, and damp is what ruins pellets. They soak up moisture, swell and fall back into sawdust, which jams augers and makes the fire unreliable.
- Keep the bags indoors or in a dry garage or shed, up off the concrete.
- Once a bag is open, tip it into a bin or bucket with a sealing lid, or roll the bag tight and clip it.
- In humid Sydney weather, empty the hopper if the grill won't be used for a while.
- Store pellets away from the BBQ, heaters and any open flame.
- Use the oldest bag first.

FAQs
Should I buy the 4-pack or the 2-pack?
The pellets are the same. The 4-pack works out cheapest per bag, so it suits you if you cook most weekends and have dry space to store 36 kg. If you cook less often, the Lumberjack Oak 2-bag pack or a single bag of Lumberjack Oak keeps your stock fresher.
How can I tell if pellets have gone bad?
Snap one in half. A good pellet breaks cleanly with little dust. Pellets that are swollen, crumbly or leave a lot of sawdust in the bag have taken on moisture and are best not used in a pellet grill.
Can I use these oak pellets for growing mushrooms?
Yes. The pellets are pure oak with no oils or chemicals, which makes them a common fruiting substrate for oyster, shiitake, lion's mane and reishi mushrooms.

🤔Who is Sydney BBQs❓
Meet Erik & Suzie, the dynamic duo behind Sydney BBQs & Rotisseries!

Our journey began in 2019, amidst the whirlwind of early parenthood. We decided to embark on a little side venture, leveraging our shared passion of BBQ. Having grown up with family BBQs, almost on a weekly basis, charcoal and sizzling grills felt like old friends to us.Our humble beginnings saw us selling charcoal from the confines of our garage. To our surprise, the demand was huge, with pallet loads flying off the shelves faster than we could stock them. It was clear we had stumbled upon something special. Fast forward five years, and our little side gig has blossomed into a comprehensive online emporium. From charcoal to rubs, grills to rotisseries, and an array of accessories including spit baskets, gyro discs, skewers, gloves, smoker tubes, and beyond, we've got all your BBQ needs covered. But it doesn't stop there. With loyal customers all over Australia, we're thrilled to announce the next chapter in our story: The grand opening of our very own shopfront. It's been an incredible journey, and we couldn't have done it without the unwavering support of our BBQ community. Here's to many more years of sizzling success!
