Lumberjack 100% Oak smoking pellets, two 9.07 kg bags in one pack – around 18 kg of pure oak, enough for a good run of weekend cooks without needing much storage space. Oak is the all-purpose smoking wood: hot-burning, steady and mild, so it backs up the food rather than drowning it.
Lumberjack makes these in the USA from whole northern Wisconsin oak trees, chipped green with the bark left on, rather than from leftover mill sawdust. The bags hold oak and nothing else – no filler woods, flavouring oils, sprays or binders.
Two bags cost less per bag than buying a single bag of Lumberjack Oak. If you cook most weekends and have dry room for 36 kg, the 4-bag bulk pack is the cheapest per bag.
What Makes Lumberjack Oak Pellets Different
Bark and cambium – the thin growing layer just under the bark – hold most of a tree's smoke flavour. Pellets made from furniture-factory or sawmill offcuts leave most of that behind, which is why some makers add flavouring oils. Lumberjack runs a mill set up to chip whole trees, so that flavourful outer wood ends up in the pellet.
The pellets are pressed in a smaller diameter than many brands, too. That gives them more surface area, so they light quicker, reach temperature sooner and make more smoke from the same amount of wood.

What to Cook With Oak Pellets
Oak runs hot and smokes gently, so it works across most of what you'll cook on a pellet grill.
- Beef: burgers, steaks, beef ribs and brisket, with clean smoke and no bitter edge on long cooks.
- Pizza and baking: high heat with a light wood-fired finish.
- Seafood and duck: noticeable smoke that leaves the main flavour intact.
- Venison and other game.
- Cheese: cold-smoked using a ProFlame Cold Smoke Generator.
With two bags on hand, it's easy to experiment: oak is the base of several Lumberjack blends, so mixing it with Lumberjack 100% Cherry gives a fruitier smoke without losing oak's heat.
How Long 18 kg Lasts
Lumberjack estimates about 0.45 kg an hour on a low or smoke setting and up to about 1.4 kg an hour on high. Your grill, the weather and how often you open the lid all make a difference, so take these as ballpark figures.
- Low and slow: about 20 hours per bag, roughly 40 hours from the pack.
- High heat: about 6–7 hours per bag, roughly 13 hours from the pack.
Fits and Compatibility
- Runs in any brand of pellet grill or pellet smoker, such as the Green Mountain Grills Ledge Prime 2.0.
- Load it into a smoker tube for extra smoke on a gas, kettle or charcoal BBQ, like our 300 mm stainless steel smoker pipe.
- Works in pellet-fed cold smoke generators.
- Some grill manufacturers recommend their own branded pellets only. If that affects your warranty, check your grill's terms first.

Keeping the Second Bag Fresh
The unopened bag will wait for you as long as it stays dry. Pellets draw in moisture, swell and break back down into sawdust, and damp pellets can block an auger.
- Store the spare bag inside or in a dry shed or garage, raised off the concrete.
- Move an opened bag into a container with a tight lid, or roll it closed and clip it.
- In humid weather, empty the hopper if the grill will sit for more than a few days.
- Keep stored pellets clear of the BBQ, heaters and open flame.

FAQs
Is the 2-pack the same pellet as the single bag?
Yes – identical bags of Lumberjack 100% Oak. The 2-pack simply costs less per bag.
How can I check whether old pellets are still good?
Snap a pellet. A sound one breaks crisply and leaves little dust. Soft, swollen pellets or a bag full of sawdust mean moisture has got in, and they're best kept out of the pellet grill.
Are these oak pellets suitable for mushroom growing?
Yes. They're pure oak without oils or chemicals, and growers use them as a fruiting substrate for oyster, shiitake, lion's mane and reishi mushrooms.

🤔Who is Sydney BBQs❓
Meet Erik & Suzie, the dynamic duo behind Sydney BBQs & Rotisseries!

Our journey began in 2019, amidst the whirlwind of early parenthood. We decided to embark on a little side venture, leveraging our shared passion of BBQ. Having grown up with family BBQs, almost on a weekly basis, charcoal and sizzling grills felt like old friends to us.Our humble beginnings saw us selling charcoal from the confines of our garage. To our surprise, the demand was huge, with pallet loads flying off the shelves faster than we could stock them. It was clear we had stumbled upon something special. Fast forward five years, and our little side gig has blossomed into a comprehensive online emporium. From charcoal to rubs, grills to rotisseries, and an array of accessories including spit baskets, gyro discs, skewers, gloves, smoker tubes, and beyond, we've got all your BBQ needs covered. But it doesn't stop there. With loyal customers all over Australia, we're thrilled to announce the next chapter in our story: The grand opening of our very own shopfront. It's been an incredible journey, and we couldn't have done it without the unwavering support of our BBQ community. Here's to many more years of sizzling success!
We’ve built Sydney BBQs & Rotisseries with passion, and our customers have been a huge part of that journey. See what they say about us!
