FAQ: All About BBQ Rubs
Q: What is a BBQ rub?
A BBQ rub is a blend of spices, herbs, sugar, and salt used to season meat before cooking. Rubs help form a flavourful crust, enhance natural juices, and can bring complex flavour profiles to your dish.
Q: Should I use a dry rub or a wet marinade?
Both have their place. Dry BBQ rubs are perfect for forming a delicious bark on smoked meats and grilling at high heat. Wet marinades are better for tenderising. For many dishes, you can use a rub first and add sauce later for layering flavour.
Q: How long should I let the rub sit on the meat?
For best results, let the rub sit for at least 30 minutes before cooking. For deeper flavour, season your meat the night before and let it rest in the fridge.
Q: Are your BBQ rubs suitable for all types of meat?
Yes! Many of our rubs are all-purpose and work beautifully on beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and even seafood. Others are more tailored — look for labels like “Brisket Rub” or “Chicken Rub” to match your recipe.
Q: Do your rubs contain MSG or gluten?
We offer a variety of rubs, some with MSG for extra flavour impact and others that are MSG-free. Many are also gluten-friendly — just check the product details or ask us directly if you're unsure.
Q: Can I use BBQ rubs on vegetables?
Absolutely. BBQ rubs can elevate roasted, grilled, or skewered vegetables by adding complexity and char-friendly flavour.
Q: How do I store my rubs?
Store in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly sealed. Avoid moisture exposure to prevent clumping and maintain freshness.

NEEDS REVIEWING AS DOESNT HOLD WELL UNDER LOAD
I recently had a friend cook me a meal on his charcoal BBQ and it was delicious. I decided I needed one, and went to Sydney BBQ's and Rotisseries. Not only did I get a great BBQ but Eric also cooked me lunch on their BBQ, to show me how to operate them. Super stoked with both the BBQ and the service from these guys!
Worked like a treat and did the job. Kiddo and the boys were super impressed!! Not even sprinkle of rain could put out the coals.
The charcoal is good stuff
