INKBIRD INT-11S-B Bluetooth Wireless Meat Thermometer

The INKBIRD INT-11S-B is a fully wireless meat thermometer designed for cooks where you want to leave the probe in the meat and keep an eye on the temperature without constantly opening the BBQ.

Insert the probe, close the lid and monitor both the internal temperature of your food and the temperature around it from the INKBIRD app on your phone.

That makes it particularly useful for brisket, pulled pork, lamb shoulders, roasts and other long cooks, but it's just as useful when you're trying to hit the right internal temperature on a steak or chicken.

What makes the INT-11S-B interesting is the probe itself. Instead of a single temperature sensor, it contains five sensors – four for the food and one for the surrounding cooking temperature.

Why Four Food Sensors?

Probe placement matters when you're cooking meat.

A large brisket or roast isn't necessarily the same temperature from one point to another, and sticking a single-sensor thermometer slightly too far in or not quite far enough can affect the reading you're relying on.

The INT-11S-B has four food temperature sensors positioned along the probe, giving it multiple measurement points inside the meat rather than relying on one point alone.

The food sensors have a stated accuracy of ±0.3°C with a response time of approximately 3 seconds.

Monitor Your Meat and BBQ Temperature

The fifth sensor measures the ambient temperature around the probe.

That's particularly useful in a smoker or BBQ because the temperature where your meat is actually sitting can be different from the temperature displayed elsewhere on the BBQ.

The ambient sensor measures temperatures from 0°C to 300°C, while the four food sensors operate from -10°C to 100°C.

So with one wireless probe you can keep an eye on what's happening inside the meat and around the meat at the same time.

Check the Cook Without Opening the BBQ

One of the main reasons I like leave-in thermometers for low-and-slow BBQ is simple: you don't need to keep lifting the lid to check the meat.

Every time you open a smoker you're letting heat out and disturbing the cooking environment.

With the INT-11S-B, you can leave the probe in place and check the temperature from your phone instead.

Bluetooth 5.4 provides a manufacturer-stated range of up to 91 metres in open conditions between the charging base and your phone.

That's an open-range figure, so walls and other obstacles can reduce the distance you'll achieve around the house or backyard.

The probe itself can communicate with the charging base from up to approximately 6 metres away.

Useful for Long Cooks

The probe provides up to 25 hours of battery life under high-temperature conditions, which gives you plenty of room for an overnight brisket, pork shoulder or other long BBQ session.

When it does need charging, a full probe charge takes approximately 25 minutes.

The charging case has its own 500 mAh rechargeable battery and charges through USB-C.

There's also 30 minutes of offline data storage. If your phone temporarily loses its Bluetooth connection, the thermometer can retain temperature data and synchronise it with the app once the connection is restored.

More Than Just a Temperature Reading

The INKBIRD app lets you set the thermometer up around the way you're cooking rather than simply displaying a number.

You can set target temperatures and high/low temperature alarms, use count-up and countdown timers and view temperature changes on a graph throughout the cook.

There are 28 preset USDA meat menus as well as custom settings and five doneness preferences.

The cooking time estimator can also help give you an indication of how the cook is progressing. I would still cook meat based on temperature and feel rather than treating an estimated finish time as a guarantee, but it can be useful when you're trying to work out roughly when dinner might be ready.

IP67 Waterproof & Dishwasher Safe Probe

The wireless probe has an IP67 waterproof rating, and INKBIRD states that the probe itself is dishwasher safe.

That's particularly handy after a long cook where the probe has been sitting in rendered fat and meat juices for hours.

The probe uses a stainless steel shaft with a heat-resistant ceramic handle.

No. The INT-11S-B connects using Bluetooth 5.4, so you don't need to connect it to your home Wi-Fi network.
